Hours: 37 hours per week, all year round. Term Time Only working patterns will also be considered

Join our team as a Student Wellbeing, Safeguarding, and Engagement Advisor at Peterborough College.

As the Student Wellbeing, Safeguarding & Engagement Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students. This is a dynamic position where the focus may shift depending on student needs and departmental priorities.

At present, there is a growing need for mental health and safeguarding support, which will be a primary focus for this role. You will receive training and ongoing coaching from our experienced team to help you succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Engagement: Foster positive relationships with students and encourage healthy behaviours.
  • Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Contribute to our safeguarding team, ensuring student safety and providing mental health support.
  • Support for Vulnerable Students: Help provide wrap-around care for groups such as Children in Care, Young Carers, Care Leavers, Young Parents, and students with medical needs.
  • Enrichment & Wellbeing Initiatives: Assist in organising and delivering wellbeing events and activities that enhance student life.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Qualifications: Mental Health First Aid (Youth) and Level 2 Safeguarding qualifications or a commitment to obtaining them within 6 months. Other relevant qualifications in areas such as mental health, learning support, health and social care, or youth work are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Experience working with young people, vulnerable adults, and/or in safeguarding or child protection settings.
  • Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build rapport and support students, while working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for helping young people thrive in a positive, nurturing educational environment.
